NATIONAL POLICE TRAINING CENTER WARDAK, Afghanistan – After three months of rigorous training in the intense heat of an Afghan summer, 142 Afghan National Civil Order Police recruits gathered at National Police Training Center Wardak to celebrate their accomplishments during a graduation ceremony Aug. 24.

Despite facing multiple rocket attacks during the months of training, the police recruits remained focused each day, determined to complete their quest to become a policeman ready to usher in a new Afghanistan.

“You have endured the rigors of challenging training during the heat of summer like true men, men of steel will and iron determination,” said Army Col. Rick Nussio, the Regional Support Command – East commander of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

The policemen were congratulated and praised for their bravery and commitment to their country by all who attended. Afghan National Police Brig. Gen. Sadarmoham Cohdamni, deputy of Training Command, Ministry of Interior addressed the graduating class, praising them for their fortitude and bravery.

“I am pleased and honored to see the young men of Afghanistan stepping up and leading our nation in its effort to build and sustain our peace and stability,” said Cohdamni. “Our future is dependent upon you and people like you who are not afraid to take a stance for the people of Afghanistan.”

After three months of classroom and practical training in riot control, drivers training, Afghan law and code, literacy and weapons training, the graduates will depart the national training center headed to various police stations throughout eastern Afghanistan.

“You will face and confront many challenges ahead—cold winters, long and tiring days of duty, and an enemy that hides in the shadows like a coward,” said Nussio. “But with your steel determination you will lead your men as you work to establish peace and justice throughout Afghanistan.

“You are the future hope for your country, which has earned you a place of honor in your nation’s long and distinguished history,” said Nussio. “Go forth and serve with pride, dignity, and honor.  God be with you, Khodar Hofessz.”
