Thirty students spend four weeks learning from two coalition and two Afghan instructors about the Talibanâs tactics, how to identify vulnerable points, to confirm the presence of an Improvised Explosive Device, and how to remove the threat of IEDs. Coalition partners from Task Force Paladin (South) believe that solely Afghan instructors will staff the course by mid-to-late summer of this year.

“When we got to Afghanistan, we looked at the program that used to be in place and decided that we wanted to re-start it in mid-November. The first class was in early December,” said Beck. “We identify graduates with instructor potential and get approval to bring them onto the course as an apprentice instructor.”
